Director of a Musical respectively. Burt Shevelove and Larry Gelbhart won
the Tony Award as Best Authors of a Musical Play. "Forum" was the first
musical featuring both music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim. The play ran

Pseudolus
is a slave who will practically do anything to gain his freedom. That
opportunity arises when he is left in charge of his owner's young son, Hero.
The young man has fallen madly in love with Philia, a lovely courtesan, and
promises Pseudolus his freedom if he can arrange a marriage before the young
man's father returns. The wily slave agrees of course, but even he can't
imagine the tangled web he is about to weave. |
