From Friday, August 23, 2013 to Saturday, August 24, 2013, Colonial Players will produce the 2nd “24 Hour Theatre Project”. This challenging project will audition, cast, rehearse, and design a theatrical production in the time frame of just 24 hours. All are welcome... if you can handle the pressure!

August 23, 2013 at 6:00 p.m. - The process begins!

All interested parties will report to The Colonial Players Annex located at 2132 Renard Court, Annapolis, MD 21401 at 6:00 p.m. for sign-in. In addition to actors, line coaches, and technical help to assist the director and designers of props, set, costumes, sound, and lights are invited to join the fun. The identity of the show will not be disclosed prior to auditions and will remain a secret until after the show has been cast on Friday night at approximately 8:00 p.m. Auditions will consist of cold readings from random shows to see how actors create strong characterizations.

August 23, 2013 at 8:00 p.m. - Casting, Read Through, Rehearsal, and Design!

The show will be cast, and the chaos will begin! If you are not cast in the show, we invite you to stay and join the production team to help with the project. Once the show is cast, there will be a read through of the show for the designers. After the read-through, the show will be blocked in its entirety and the designers will work with their teams to gather props, pull costumes, hang lights, and build set pieces. Everyone will work on the show until midnight, at which time the actors will be released to memorize lines on their own and perhaps get some sleep. The director will meet with the designers and move to the theatre for technical preparation of lights, sound, and set construction.

August 24, 2013 at 7:00 a.m. - Tech Week!

Actors will report to The Colonial Players Theatre located at 108 East Street, Annapolis, MD 21401 and begin to stage the show in the space followed by a Cue-to-Cue and a dress rehearsal.

August 24, 2013 at 8:00 p.m. - Curtain Up!

The final, full-length, fully-staged, mostly memorized performance for the audience begins!

If you were not cast in the show and do not sign up to work with a designer, you are invited to view the final show to see the finished product after 24 hours. If you know anyone who participated last time, they will tell you that it’s hard work but it’s great fun, and a real sense of family and community is present.
