At the 66th annual CP Season Celebration held on August 8, 2015 at Quiet Waters Park, songstresses Kaitlin Fish, Erica Miller, and Kaelynn Miller delighted attendees with an Andrews Sisters style musical mini-revue of Season 66. With lyrics written by Amy Atha-Nicholls and music orchestrated by husband Richard Atha-Nicholls, the number was a hit with the crowd and resulted in standing applause. Thanks to Richard for capturing this special memory on video for us!

Lyrics:

Rocket Man (to the tune of The Coffee Song)

Our first show of the season
Defies all rhyme and reason
Talk of choices that we did or did not make
Rocket Man makes us appreciate our fate.

Donny's emptying his house
He no longer has a spouse
And he feels that everything in life is wrong
His rocket ship will take him back where he belongs.

There's no way of going back
Donny has jumped time tracks
Time runs differently in parallel worlds so now we know

For everything in our lives
There's a window of time
When it must happen before that window's gone
Where you are now is actually where you belong.

A Few Good Men (to the tune of Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy)

Our second play has scenes in Guantenamo Bay
With Lieutenant Commander JoAnne Galloway
She wants to find the truth
About marine corruption and behaviour uncouth
To save two marine boys, get 'em an attorney
Instead she gets the lamest lawyer called Daniel Kaffee

The murder of a Private is what's happened here
Upon whose orders a Code Red it isn't clear
It don't look good for those boys
But then Kaffee shows up, and Jessup throws out his toys
So the boys get discharged, dishonourably
Now he's the case winning lawyer man called Daniel Kaffee

A Christmas Carol (to the tune of Hold Tight (Want Some Sea Food))

Christmas time in Victorian England
Don't you worry with show number three
Scrooge will be just fine
If he learns how to be kind - now

Hold tight, hold tight, hold tight, hold tight
Here comes the ghost
The ghost of Christmas Past
Scrooge can love, not just money.

Hold tight, hold tight, hold tight, hold tight
Here’s ghost two
The ghost of Christmas Present
Time for milk, of human kindness

With Scrooge feeling rather glum
Time for Ghost of Christmas yet to come
Will Scrooge get love in his heart
And learn how to make a new start?

The Liar (to the tune of Lullaby of Broadway)

Come on along now here we go
The Liar is our fourth play
Set in Paris long ago
Our Liar is Durante

Two pretty ladies he did meet
but got their names befuddled
He thinks he likes Lucrece
But her name he's muddled

His daddy wants him to marry
A girl he's found called Clarice
Durante makes up big stories
Until his lies have to cease

Watch on the Rhine (to the tune of Don't Sit Under The Apple Tree)

Show number five takes us to, about twenty miles from DC
The house of Farrelly, meet David and Fanny
Here we go
War is raging in Europe, David's sister's coming home
Escaping tyranny.

She's been gone seventeen years, and raised a family
Over in Germany, now they had to leave
It's not good
Her husband is Resistance, and has to go straight back
To help a friend in need.

A Count with lots of good manners and odious character
Tries to cause a stir, blackmail he'd prefer
No, no, no
It won't end well for him at all, Resistance must succeed
Against the dictator.

Ernest in Love (to the tune of Chattanooga Choo Choo)

Show number six
Is one of Oscar Wilde's greatest
It's comical
And now a musical...
Pardon me boys,
Is either one of you named Ernest?
We love that name
It sets our hearts all aflame.

Jack is Ernest when he's in town, to let off steam
Gets away with all sorts, he's got quite a scheme
Gwendolyn is his love
Her mother won't approve of
As he was adopted and that's not good enough.

Algernon is Ernest to win over Jack's ward
Cecily admits it's Ernest that she's adored
Nothing could be finer
Than a Wilde one-liner
In this comedy of manners underscored.

Why Torture Is Wrong, and the People Who Love Them (to the tune of Gimme Some Skin My Friend)

The seventh show, packs quite a blow
It's a farce and no mistaking
There's no suprise, beyond the lies
There’s gonna be some law breaking

Starts out with a drunken night
A spontaneous wedding
but the groom is not quite right
There may be some bloodshedding.

The bride’s mother is quite mad
She's obsessed with theatre
Her father is just as bad and
Kidnaps the groom, for torture.

Smack him!
Whack him!
Treat him like a spy.
Bash him!
Thrash him!
‘Til dad figures out he's got the wrong guy!

That was Season sixty-six
We hope you enjoyed it
Looking forward to next year's picks
Sixty-seven should be a hit!
