The Colonial Players One Act Play Festival

The Colonial Players One Act Play Festival is soliciting scripts! We are looking for one-act scripts that run between 10 minutes and 45 minutes in length.

Published scripts: If you know of a One Act play you think would be a good fit for our stage (theater in the round) and should be considered for production, send the title, playwright and publisher information to oneacts@thecolonialplayers.org Deadline: February 12, 2010.

Original Unpublished Scripts: Accepting original scripts from Maryland, Virginia, Delaware and DC playwrights only. A pdf or Word document of an original unpublished script is preferred. Please send scripts to oneacts@thecolonialplayers.org – Or send hard copy scripts to Beth Terranova, 5 Constitution Avenue, Annapolis, MD 21401. Deadline March 5, 2010.

The Colonial Players One-Act Festival is a prime opportunity for new directors, and will provide a workshop environment for first-time directors at Colonial.

A director applicant who is interested in directing a specific play should submit the play in accordance with the directions above and indicate his/her desire to direct the show. Briefly describe your concept for the play, and include your resume information (see below). Also – please indicate whether you would be interested in directing a different show if your play is not selected for the Festival.

Director applicants who do not have a particular show in mind should send their resume information; if selected to direct, you will be given the opportunity to choose from among the plays chosen by One Act Play Selection Committee for the festival.

Because the One-Act Festival encourages new directors, we understand your resume may be light on the directing side; acting experience, backstage experience - especially stage management or production work - and other experience leading a project or a team may all be pertinent.

All potential directors will be interviewed. We anticipate director selections for the one-acts to be made in the March – April time frame. All directors selected will be asked to attend a Director's Workshop and Orientation, date TBD.
