A Christmas Carol 2021 Information

2021 10 23 scrooge bedchamberThe Colonial Players are excited to announce details for our 2021 production of A Christmas Carol! The play was written for The Colonial Players by local playwright Rick Wade and composer Dick Gessner more than 35 years ago and has been a family favorite and Annapolis holiday tradition ever since. This year’s production is directed by Sarah Wade, with music direction by Trevor Greenfield.

Production Details

This year’s production of A Christmas Carol has been adjusted to ensure cast and audience safety in the COVID-19 environment:

  • We will be presenting 16 total performances at the traditional times.
    • To eliminate audience overlap in our small lobby between performances, the number of live in-person performances has been reduced from 16 to 10.
    • A pre-recorded stream will be presented during the remaining 6 performance times.
  • Seating capacity has been reduced for all in-person performances to approximately 100 seats to allow for additional spacing between the actors (who will be singing) and the audience.
  • The cast will utilize the Section C side of our stage, with audience seating available on three sides of the theater at the opposite side of the performance space.
  • The production will be more minimalist; the cast size has been reduced, and costumes, props, set design, and choreography will be simplified to account for the smaller performance area.
  • The Colonial Players require masks to be properly worn by everyone in all of our facilities at all times, regardless of vaccination status.
  • Please note that the actors in A Christmas Carol will be unmasked while performing on stage.
