The Playwrights’ Lab Series is for playwrights interested in exploring the principles and theories of effective playwriting, listening to each other’s work for discussion and constructive feedback, and then using this to further develop their own work. Each session will begin with a discussion of an aspect of writing with the help of a guest expert or the examination of successful texts written by professional playwrights. This will be followed by readings of participants’ work for feedback.
These first five pilot sessions are intended as stand-alone and more exploratory in nature with the hope of extending the series further for participants who are ready to commit to writing regularly to make full use of the series’ potential for encouraging the development, improvement and completion of their plays.
Periodically, actors will be available to read participants’ work for further work-shopping and participants will be able to submit finished works to the One Act Play Festival to be considered for production.
The first five sessions in the series start at 7 p.m. on alternate Tuesdays, beginning on March 31, 2015 and ending on May 26, 2015. Registration is $10 for non-members and free for members (although you still need to register to guarantee your space). Please email This email address is being protected from spambots.
