The Washington Area Theatre Community Honors (WATCH) is an organization founded for the adjudication and presentation of annual awards recognizing artistic and technical excellence in community theatre throughout the metropolitan Washington, D.C. area, and that these honors will:

  • Foster and encourage the growth of community theater;
  • Promote and enhance the image of community theater; and
  • Educate and inform the general public about the theatrical opportunities provided by the member theaters.

The Colonial Players, Inc. has been a proud member of the WATCH community since 2007.

10th Annual WATCH Awards (Calendar Year 2009)

The 10th Annual Washington Area Theatre Community Honors' (WATCH Awards) winners were announced on Sunday, March 14, 2010 at The Birchmere in Alexandria, VA.

Adjudicators reviewed 114 productions (32 musicals, 82 plays) in 30 community theater companies. In each of the 38 categories, five nominees were selected based on the average scores of eight judges. Nominees were announced at a ceremony on January 17, 2010.
