2015 03 21 general membership meetingThe Colonial Players held our annual General Membership meeting with elections on March 18, 2015. If you weren't able to attend, here's a summary of what you missed!

We are pleased to announce the results of our election as we welcome several new members to our Board:

  • Vice President: Herb Elkin
  • Secretary: Theresa Riffle
  • Artistic Director: Mickey Lund
  • Education Director: Scott Nichols
  • Marketing Director: Tim Sayles

In addition to the election, current Board members presented reports on each of their team's activities since the October membership meeting to bring everyone up to date on what's been happening at the theatre! It's been a busy few months at the theater, with many workshops and other exciting activities! You can read the full report by downloading a PDF copy:

We were fortunate to welcome Rob Levit from Creating Communities to our meeting. Rob is the founder of Creating Communities, and the recipient of this year's A Christmas Carol donation! Rob spoke to everyone about the work of his organization, about his personal passion for the work, and he invited us to join them for an upcoming event this summer.

A suggested Bylaw change was discussed in response to a member recommendation at the October membership meeting. The discussion was lively and engaged, and may result in additional special meetings to determine how best to proceed with respect to the recommendation. Stay tuned for more on this item!

Frank Florentine, one of our lighting designers, treated our members to a sneak peak of a presentation he's giving in New York in May featuring Colonial Players' production of Bat Boy and the incorporation of new lighting technologies in that show. This presentation discusses our approach to integrating new intelligent lighting into our operation, and specifically into the production of Bat Boy. The hope is that other community theaters will become more aware of what we've been able to do in our space and take the next steps to begin working with some of this newer technology themselves.

As always, a reception was held following the meeting giving everyone time to catch up with fellow Colonial Players members. Snacks and beverages were provided by the theater. If we missed you at this meeting, we hope you'll consider joining us in October!
