The Play Selection Committee will soon begin the process of assembling a varied and balanced slate of plays for CP's 72nd season (September 2020 – June 2021). The slate will contain 6 main season shows, plus A Christmas Carol.
Once again, the committee is welcoming Director/Play packages for consideration as part of the slate. This year we are soliciting packages quite a bit earlier than in previous years so that any show moved forward will have due consideration by the full Play Selection Committee. In addition, directors whose packages are selected to move forward will have the opportunity to present again before the Play Selection Committee. This year the committee is considering shows of any genre (including musicals) with at least three roles. The committee will only consider one package from each director.

- Name and contact information (email and preferred phone number)
- PDF copy of the script you are applying to direct. (If you are unable to provide a pdf, please contact the artistic director at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. to make other arrangements.)
- If you are submitting for a musical, please provide a link to music files of the soundtrack OR provide a CD of the music.
- Copy of your directing resume, or resume with appropriate related experience.
- Conflicts from September 1 - 16, 2019.
- All of the above information is due by Sunday, August 25, 2019. You are encouraged to submit as early as possible to allow the Director Play Package selection committee time to read your play.
PROCESS
All directors considered for a Director/Play package will be required to interview with the Play Package selection committee. Interviews will be scheduled between September 1 and September 16, 2019. Additional information regarding the interview will be provided upon scheduling.
If your show is selected to move forward, it will be added to those shows under final consideration for the season slate by the Play Selection Committee, and you will have an opportunity to present to the entire committee.
If your show is selected for the slate, you will be expected to present at our annual Sneak Peek, typically scheduled in early February. You will also be expected to attend our annual Season Kick-off meeting (for directors, designers, consultants, technicians, and crew), which will be scheduled in the spring of 2019.
If your package is not selected, the play you submitted will not be considered further for Season 72. You may then put in to direct any open show selected for the season slate. The Director Selection process for those shows will begin in March 2020.
