Colonial Players is seeking directors for its 2019-2020 season! Directors are invited to apply for any of the following shows:

  • Arsenic and Old Lace by Joseph Kesselring
  • The White Rose by Lillian Groag
  • The Best Christmas Pageant Ever by Barbara Robinson
  • The Children by Lucy Kirkwood
  • Book of Days by Lanford Wilson
  • Freaky Friday, book by Bridget Carpenter, music by Tom Kitt, lyrics by Brian Yorkey
  • The Revolutionists by Lauren Gunderson

Directors may apply by submitting an email to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. no later than Friday, March 1, 2019 with the following information:

  • Subject line “2019-2020 Director Application”
  • Name and complete contact information
  • Title of the show(s) you wish to be considered for
  • List of dates/times March 9—23 for which you are NOT available for an interview
  • Your directing resume

Note: The Colonial Players, Inc. (CP) is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) non-profit community theatre, and all Director positions at The Colonial Players are unpaid.

Any director who submits an application will be invited to meet with the Director Selection Committee, where you will have an opportunity to describe your vision for the show(s) you have expressed an interest in directing. Interviews will take place mid-to-late March based on availability. Interviews last approximately 20 minutes.

Prospective directors may submit applications for more than one show. The committee reserves the right to limit or consolidate the number of individual interviews based on the needs of the organization.

Should you be selected to direct a show, you are expected to attend our annual Season Kick-off meeting (for directors, producers, designers, and consultants). This event will occur in late April or early May; the specific date of this event will be scheduled based on availability of the chosen directors.
